How does it all WORK????
What is BioPRYN™?
BioPRYN™ (Pregnancy Ruminant Yes/No) is a pregnancy detection procedure in cattle. It measures presence of Pregnancy-Specific Protein B (PSPB) in the circulation. PSPB is a protein from the placenta.
BioPRYN™ begins with collection of the blood sample from the cow. Then samples are shipped to the laboratory where an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is performed. Reports are available within 27 hours of lab set-up and may be accessed from your account which is located in the members area on the labs website, or they can be emailed or faxed to you.
Using BioPRYN™ assures accuracy. When the dairy, farm or stud manager draws blood samples from the animal(s) at the correct time (30 days) after breeding and 90 days after calving, the pregnancy question is known within 27 hours after testing begins!

How BioPRYN™ works
The Benefits: Why Dairy Managers Should Use BioPRYN™
Here are a few reasons why BioPRYN™ is the best solution for your needs.
* Allows the veterinarian to concentrate on medical and management procedures
* Assures precise pregnancy testing using veterinary/laboratory techniques
* BioPRYN® is convenient from sampling to recording:
1. Tests are conducted according to the dairy manager’s schedule
2. It is recommended to test weekly and soon or after 30 days from breeding
3. An electronic report can be sent from our web site
4. No on-the-dairy handling of testing data
5. Eliminates on-site quality control concerns
* Provides more economical results than other tests
* Safer for embryos-- commonly 2% to 11% of embryos die with palpation methods

Reduce detection error concerns with BioPRYN™. Embryos die when cows are treated with ovulation/heat synchronizing drugs. No test is better to assure non-pregnancy and relieve error and expense in treating pregnant cows.
Money and time are saved by eliminating embryo death through palpation
and drug treatment by the convenience of BioPRYN™

Ask us for a copy of the free DVD which quickly shows you how quick and simple it is to draw the blood sample from under the cows tail.

Dairy Cattle Pregnancy Test Kit

1989
!
Test the milk on farm for accurate pregnancy results.

The Bovine Pregnancy Test is a break through in reproductive technology that allows for rapid and accurate determination of pregnancy status in cattle at 20 days post mating. Simply collect a milk sample from your cows 20 days after mating and use this kit to determine if the cow is pregnant or open. This is much sooner that palpation or ultrasound pregnancy tests.

This test is ideally suited to farmers using AI programs where exact insemination dates are known. In cows that conceive, the pregnancy hormone is elevated at 20 days post insemination. In cows that are open, this pregnancy hormone drops to a low level at this time. The Bovine Pregnancy Test can detect high or low levels of the pregnancy hormone.

To perform the test, simply collect a sample of milk from the cow 20 days after insemination or mating. Mix the milk sample with test reagents and watch for a color change to indicate the pregnant or open status of the cow. It’s simple, fast and accurate and best of all, the test result can be known within the cow’s cycle, enabling better breeding management.

This new technology is only available through The Farmer’s Mailbox where we help you to improve your farming productivity.

Estrotect (Estrus Alert) Heat Detectors for Cattle

Now Only
!
Estrotect (Estrus Alert)

Effective cattle breeding program managment

Estrotect is a revolutionary new tool to tell when a cow is on heat. Its simple design means there is no messy glue.
Just peel it off the backing paper and stick it on the cow.
Apply Estrotect to you beef for dairy cows before you start mating or following the use of CIDR devices or prostaglandin to synchronise oestrus.
When cows are mounted during standing heat, the scratch off surface of the Estrotect patch is rubbed off to expose the brilliant coloured layer underneath.
The brilliant colour of the activated Estrotect is highly visible in the paddock and in poor light conditions such as in dairies in the early morning.
Available in a range of colours.
Different mobs of cows can be easily identified with different colours. For example, a group of repeat breeder cows could get a different colour to cows that have not yet joined.
Estrus Alert detects true standing heat. A false mount does not set it off.
Easy to apply, highly visible and accurate.
Estrus Alert are sold in packets of 50 of the same colour
Colours Available:  Orange Pink Green Blue

Kamar Heat Detectors

!
Kamar Heat Detectors
Effective cattle breeding programs includes heat detection
The only Heat Detection aid with a built in timing chamber which eliminates false heats.
Proven over 25 years.
Better pregnancy rates.
Todays high producing cows do not stand as much and often in the dark.
Kamar heat detectors do the work for you. You can safely sleep at night!
Perfect for synchronized breeding programs where large groups of cows are being set up for breeding at the same time.
The Kamar Heatmount Detector is applied just behind the hips of the cow. When a cow wearing a detector is mounted by a herd mate, pressure from the brisket of the mounting animal turns the detector red. This leaves a visible indication that the cow stood to be ridden and therefore may be in heat and ready to inseminate. Other signs of heat should always be observed to confirm that a red detector resulted from standing heat. Kamars exclusive built in timing mechanism is designed to distinguish false mounts from true standing mounts.

CIDR Progesterone Implants for Cattle, Sheep & Goat

!
Using A.I.? CIDR Progesterone Cattle Implants.
Also available for Sheep and Goat

CIDR Cattle Insert
Progesterone is given to cows and heifers as an implant. One form available in Australia is the CIDR Cattle Insert, which achieves synchrony by lengthening the oestrus cycle while it remains implanted. It releases progesterone, which is the same as the natural hormone produced by the corpeus luteum on the ovary between Day 7–17 of the normal cycle.
When the implant is removed the progesterone level in the bloodstream drops quickly.
This results in another egg developing and normal signs of oestrus behaviour are shown.
The progesterone implants have the advantage over prostaglandins in that they will not cause abortions if they are used on pregnant animals (in fact they may have the opposite effect and may be able to help sustain some early pregnancies) and are also still effective if used on cows that have just been in season. Progesterone treatment can be used to stimulate the hormonal system of cows that are not cycling (anoestrus).
The benefits of using the CIDR Cattle Insert include:
~ AI programs can be completed in only a few days
~ Better use of labour resources by spending less time on heat detection
~ More accurate oestrus detection
~ Fewer non-pregnant animals at the end of the breeding period
~ Improved rates of genetic gain through better use of AI and ET
~ Enhanced fertility in embryo transfer recipient
~ Concentrated breeding, therefore concentrated calving
~ Predetermined calving for special needs
~ Manipulation of breeding to suit seasonal feed supply
~ Reduced parturition to conception period.

Although the new applicators are very popular now, the old bush and tin method of application still has many advantages.
Not only is it much more economical, but it can also be much quicker to use, especially in large dairies where one person can move quickly along the row painting tail bones.
An old ice cream container is ideal, along with a cheap disposable brush.
Tail Mark is non-fluro, but makes solid easy to see at a distance marks.

Chin Ball Mating Harness for Cattle

!
The Chin-Ball Cattle Mating Harness is used in herd managment around the world for identifying mated cattle, or for marking cows empty or to be mated.
The robust harness - halter has a cone shaped device underneath which contains a freely rotating ball, working on the same principle as a ball-pen. The stainless steel ball container can be filled with ink of the desired colour. Each fill is enough to mark 25-30 cows (approx. 0.5 litre). When a cow is properly in season she will receive very clearly identifiable back markings from the bull (or cow) wearing the device. Marks fade in 4 to 14 days. We suggest changing colours on a 3 week cycle, to prevent any confusion. Ink is available in 1 litre containers.
Ink Colours available: blue, green, magenta, orange, & yellow.
